About Me – Exploring Hidden Dubrovnik Through History & Nature

A local guide sharing personal stories, hidden trails, and the historic Dubrovnik aqueduct. Discover nature through meaning, not conquest.

Hey! My name is Jovanka

Many hikers seek to “conquer” mountain peaks — I am not one of them. In nature, I am always searching for a deeper story and a deeper meaning.

My goal is to show you hidden and less-visited places in Dubrovnik and its surroundings. One of my personal favorites is the route of the old Dubrovnik Aqueduct, which also leads all the way up to Mount Srđ.

Tours I would love to show you

I’ve spent a long time reflecting on how to present myself. Should I list my mountaineering achievements, courses, schools, and so on—or something else entirely? Perhaps, in today’s hectic life, something else matters more.

That “something else” is that I love the sun—but I love the rain just as much. Of all the natural treasures, I love the mountains the most. I love the rustle of leaves underfoot in autumn, and the whisper of leaves in the branches during summer. I love the crunch of snow beneath my boots. I love the smiles of people who are different from those in the city. I love how food tastes better in the mountains. I love cold cheeks from the wind and warm hands. I love the scent and warmth of a fire at home after a winter climb. I even love our rugged karst terrain—and I want to share all of this with you.

I love a well-deserved warm shower and tea—or a cold beer, depending on the season—after a climb. I want to share with you smiles that are different from those in the city. My daughter taught me the most important lesson: to slow down, to watch, to listen, and to breathe in the scents around me. That is what I want to offer you—moments where you think less and feel more.

I hope I can pass on my love of this life to you.

Let’s walk beyond the usual paths.

Discover Dubrovnik the way I did — slowly, meaningfully, and off the beaten path.
