MOUNT SRĐ SUNSET HIKE
The most famous view in Croatia, an easy walk up the old Way of the Cross and a sunset above Dubrovnik, away from the crowds.
Mount Srđ Sunset Hike
Mount Srđ rises right behind the Old Town, and from its summit you get the view everyone knows from postcards: the city walls, the red roofs, Lokrum and the open sea. It is an easy hike, suitable for all ages, and the best place in Dubrovnik to watch the sun go down.
We start with a short, shady walk through the forest, getting to know each other, and then follow the old Way of the Cross up the slope at a relaxed pace. Along the way we talk about the history and culture of Dubrovnik, its landmarks and the landscape around it, and stop wherever the view of the Old Town, Lokrum and the Adriatic asks for a break. The climb takes about an hour.
At the top we celebrate with a summit photo and slow down in the naturally cool Museum of the Homeland War, inside Fort Imperial, the old Napoleonic fortress. Then we climb onto the top of the fortress itself, a viewpoint few visitors know about, far from the crowds around the cable car and the restaurant.
