Old Dubrovnik Aqueduct Walk
The path follows the old Dubrovnik water supply system, a system of water canals covered by stone slabs. Built in the 15 th century, the aqueduct was the most important way of supplying Dubrovnik with fresh water from the spring in the village of Šumet overlooking the town. In the 20 th century, a new plumbing system was built in Dubrovnik and since then the old aqueduct is not in use. There are still remains from that time and a nice path, which is 7km long and spreads above the area of the Ombla River, follows the route of the old system. On this hike you discover some interesting parts of Dubrovnik history and enjoy spectacular views of the Ombla River, the Elaphiti islands and the Dubrovnik port area.
